Someone beat me to the punch!

I think where augmented reality gets interesting is when you think about incorporating real time streams, layering maps, consumer info, etc, all onto your virtual spot. That means no more having to sift through google searches, yelp reviews or maps to get the location relevant information.

All the more exciting is AR Advertising–think about the possibilites that come with virtual real estate like billboards, posters, etc, that will act as vessels for paid ads! Cha-ching.

I like to think of myself as  pretty tech savvy and hip to all things new–I created a twitter account back when it first launched–but there’s something about the service that isn’t sticky enough. Maybe it’s my circle friends, maybe I just don’t care about learning twitter syntax (retweets, hashtags, etc) or maybe I could care less about status updates in general, but I’ve found no particular use for it in my day-to-day. And to be frank, any time there’s a blog post about Twitter, my eyes glaze over my thoughts travel elsewhere and I think about the days of the AIM ecosystem. It was nice while it lasted, until something more integrated came along.

My hope for Twitter is that it will get bought out by some company and will be integrated into a service that I use daily–like e-mail. However, I’m eagerly awaiting the arrival of Google Wave and I’m pretty sure upon it’s release I’ll forget that a company like Twitter even existed.
